What if your retreat didn’t have to fit neatly into seven days?
The Wild Wilderness Immersive Mountain Retreat is an open-ended experience created for those who want more than a getaway—but don’t necessarily want to complete a Yoga Teacher Training.
Hosted alongside our Kootenay Yoga School YTT programs in the wild beauty of British Columbia, this immersive experience invites you to step away from ordinary routines and spend meaningful time surrounded by yoga, community, mountains, lakes, forests, fresh air, movement, learning, and the slower rhythm of life in nature.
Rather than arriving for a tightly scheduled retreat with a predetermined beginning and end, guests are invited to settle in, participate, explore, and stay awhile.
Wake up surrounded by wilderness. Join morning asana and meditation, share nourishing meals, wander forest trails, spend afternoons beside the lake, explore the mountains, enjoy personal study and reflection, connect with an evolving community of yogis, or simply give yourself permission to rest.
You may come to deepen your yoga practice. You may come to reset.
You may be craving adventure, creativity, connection, personal study, fresh mountain air—or simply enough time and space to hear yourself think again.
There is no expectation that you become a yoga teacher.
The invitation is simply to immerse yourself.
Live alongside a vibrant Yoga Teacher Training community while maintaining the freedom to create an experience of your own—balancing opportunities for yoga, learning and connection with spacious days for wilderness exploration, lake time, personal practice, adventure, reflection and rest.
Come for the yoga.
Stay for the mountains.
Reconnect in the wild.

Our retreat property creates a comfortable home base where guests can practice yoga, share meals, connect with community, curl up with a book, and then step outside to experience everything this beautiful corner of British Columbia has to offer.

Seasonal Adventures — Your experience naturally changes with the season. Warm months invite swimming, hiking, beach days, and long evenings outside, while cooler stays bring crisp mountain mornings, changing leaves, cozy layers, warm drinks, and evenings gathered together at the cabin.
Space to Truly Slow Down — One of the most special parts of an immersive stay is simply having enough time. Time for morning yoga without rushing somewhere afterward. Time for a long walk. Time to journal, study, nap, explore, sit outside, share stories over dinner, or spend an afternoon doing absolutely nothing.
Some days may be filled with yoga, learning, community, ceremony, and outdoor adventure. Others might mean a slow morning at the cabin, an afternoon exploring the wilderness, a walk beside the water, or an early night tucked inside with a cup of tea.
Stay long enough and the cabin begins to feel a little like home, the people around you become community, and the mountains become part of your daily rhythm.
Grand Forks isn't simply where the retreat happens—the wild beauty, cozy cabin living, and slower pace of British Columbia become part of the retreat itself.
Our Wild Wilderness BC Retreat is designed to offer freedom, flexibility, and the opportunity to experience Kootenay Yoga School at your own pace. Rather than traditional fixed retreat dates, guests can choose a stay ranging from just 1 day to as many as 30 days, creating a mountain retreat that fits your schedule, goals, and the amount of time you have available.

This retreat has been intentionally created alongside our standard 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training experience. Days at Kootenay Yoga School are shaped by movement, learning, reflection, nourishing food, nature, connection, and personal growth—all surrounded by the mountains, forests, lakes, and wild beauty of British Columbia.
Retreat guests enjoy considerably more freedom than our YTT students. You can participate when opportunities align, head outside to explore, curl up at the cabin with a book, spend an afternoon beside the water, or simply give yourself permission to rest.
At the same time, retreat guests share the property, meals, practices, and community with our students. We therefore ask everyone who stays with us to honour and contribute to the peaceful atmosphere of the school.
Our cabin is intended to remain a healthy, welcoming, peaceful, and substance-free environment where people can learn, rest, practice, connect, explore, and grow. We ask guests to approach the experience with kindness, respect, mindfulness, and consideration for the people sharing this space.
You don't need to be completing a Yoga Teacher Training to become part of our community. You simply need to arrive with an openness to respect the space, embrace the slower rhythm of mountain life, and contribute positively to the community around you.
Stay for a day. Stay for a week. Stay for a month. Your dates are yours—the mountains, community, and experience unfold from there.
Fresh, nourishing breakfasts, lunches, and dinners prepared with an emphasis on whole foods and adaptable dietary options.
